Workshop on Professional Communications in English
The Career Counselling Center at the World University of Bangladesh held a highly successful Workshop on Professional Communications in English on December 9, 2024 at the WUB Auditorium. The session, which ran from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, was led by Gautam Barua, Media Advisor at the National University, Bangladesh.
This workshop was a key initiative under the university's Women's Mentoring & Empowerment Scheme, designed to provide specific tools for female students' advancement. It offered a platform for face-to-face mentoring and aimed to equip participants with the essential communication skills necessary for professional and personal growth. The session attracted a wide range of attendees, including a strong cohort of female students preparing for careers in fields where they are under-represented, individuals keen to improve their communication capabilities, and those aspiring to excel in professional settings.
Participants engaged in various interactive sessions, focusing on Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Improving written communication, including grammar, organization, and crafting professional documents like CVs, emails, and business letters. Attendees praised the workshop for its practical approach and real-world relevance, with many noting it served as a catalyst for self-reliance and empowerment.
Professor Dr. M. Nurul Islam, Pro-Vice Chancellor, graced the workshop as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized the university's commitment to such training and mentoring sessions as a cornerstone for student success. Other distinguished guests included Professor Zaki Imam, Registrar, and Senior Deputy Controller of Examination, HoDs along with faculty members from other departments, and other administrative officers.
